al Added some new images to the photo gallery. Check that out. Also added some new ones to the random rotation here on the front page. I'm gonna try to keep those more up-to-date because I have been slacking on that. -Al

al We are no longer using PayPal to accept donations. They have attempted to keep our money and not let it be withdrawn over various ridiculous reasons. We have refunded any recent donations and encourage everybody to continue to donate either through Sprial Diner http://spiraldiner.com or in another way. We are very sorry for this inconvenience and are very frustrated by this development. Thank you very much for your donations! Email me if you have any questions. -Al
al DIY culture in Fort Worth doesn’t seem to be as strong as it once was. I am only using as a frame of reference what I see going on at 1919, which by all respects should be the center of our city’s DIY culture.

What has been going on is apathy. What used to be a monthly meeting has turned into a series of monthly phone calls about how we don’t feel like having a meeting. All but a few shows a month are the total responsibility of one person. A regular cleanup day hasn’t been in effect for a long time and 1919 is as dirty as it has ever been. Financially, things aren’t so great. And non-music events are virtually non-existent.

The solution is simple: NEW BLOOD! Those of us that have been involved with 1919 since the beginning are six and a half years older and less creative, less adventurous, and less idealistic. We need young people, new ideas and fresh enthusiasm. We need more people to be blindly passionate about punk, DIY and being a part of something.

We need people who used to be involved to get back into it. We need ideas and we need action. We need people willing to spend time making 1919 fun and hospitable. We need groups to make 1919 their home to bring variety and possibilities. We need people willing to make repairs to a slowly deteriorating building. We need musicians, revolutionaries, cleaners, organizers, artists, teachers, learners, punks, old farts, young whippersnappers and dreamers to make 1919 as great as it can be.

Let’s breathe new life into 1919. Let’s build a community. Let’s change Fort Worth, Texas, and the world.

1919's next meeting will be next Monday, January 19 @ 6pm. I am going to make it a point to be there, even if it's just the same 3 of us it always is. I would love it if some new people showed up, or even people we know who just want to get more involved. Email me if you want to get more involved but can't make it to the meeting. We will be making a list of stuff that needs to get done and you can help out any way you want to. -al
al A big thanks to Andrew Blake for making another big donation to 1919 in honor of his dad James Blake! Thanks to you and everyone else that has donated, 1919 is now officially out of debt!

rick For those who don't know. Cadillac Fraf aka Chad Percy fell of his scooter on September 25th and has been in a coma ever since. It is encouraged for his friends to visit him in the hospital and talk to him. He's reacting to peoples voices and music. That's a positive sign. You can donate money to his hospital funds at Spiral Diner, the Chat Room, Lola's and various other places. You can read more on this website: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/fraf -Rick
